Thirty years behind the camera, specialising in the one cast that can't be directed in the usual sense: animals. His work spans petfood, food and lifestyle — Whiskas, Sheba, Gourmet, Frontline, Pedigree, Hill's, Purina — across Europe, Latin America and Asia, for agencies including BBDO, DDB, TBWA, AMV BBDO and McCann.
His work rests on a rare combination: a deeply cinematic eye and an instinctive rapport with animals on set. Patience isn't a method — it's a philosophy. He doesn't wait for an animal to perform; he builds the conditions for a performance to happen. The difference shows on screen. (It also requires the ability to look completely calm while a Labrador eats the hero prop for the third time.)
Spanish by blood, Dutch by upbringing. On set this translates as: deeply emotional about the idea, ruthlessly efficient about the execution. Fluent in English, French and Italian — and, according to clients, passable in cat-ese and dog-ish.
